So Long Summer

Labor Day weekend we celebrated the end of summer season here on the lake. So long summer you were fun, but my favorite season here in the Tennessee Mountains is autumn. I'm ready to say hello to fall!

Summer of 22

This time last year my husband, Randy had received time off from chemo treatments to psych himself up physically and mentally for the Mother of all Surgeries. September 7, 2021, he underwent HIPEC Surgery for stage 4 appendix cancer.

It was successful and following HIPEC surgery and another round of chemo treatments his prognosis is better than even his doctors expected.

What a contrast this summer has been compared to last summer when we still had surgery, chemo, and the unknown of his outcome still lurking ahead of us. What a difference a year has made and we're taking nothing for granted.

The summer of 22 has been wonderful!

What a Wonderful World

I'm a little out of practice when it comes to social events, but this year we hosted an Easter brunch at Frahm haus. Spring flowers, fattening foods, yummy mimosas, and grateful people sans masks.

Normalcy feels good!

What Happy Looks Like

This time last year my husband, Randy and I were on our way to NC to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. Instead of going skiing we ended up at the nearest ER where Randy was transported to another hospital for emergency surgery- his appendix had ruptured.

The morning of our anniversary I arrived at the hospital expecting to take him home, but he wasn’t doing well due to a complication which had occurred during surgery. Instead of going home and back to life as we knew it- this was the day we found out he had cancer. He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive stage 4 appendix cancer.

This February 18th we’ll be married 33 years, but the celebration began on February10th when Randy rang the bell signifying the end of chemo. It was an emotional moment and physical relief.

Our son, Jordan took this photo after we returned home that day. This is what happy looks like! I’ve no idea what the future holds, but I’m trying to appreciate and never take for granted moments like this one.

Happy Valentine's Day!
